    University pathways in New Zealand

UP Education, represented by our guest speaker, delivers foundation programmes for three New Zealand universities. Each programme is set by the university and leads to guaranteed entry into undergraduate study once its academic and English-language conditions are met.

University of Auckland Certificate in Foundation Studies

    University of Auckland

Delivered by UP Education at University of Auckland International College in central Auckland. Foundation study usually takes one year, with an accelerated 8-month option for qualified students.

Progression: guaranteed entry into University of Auckland undergraduate degree programmes for students who achieve the required foundation average, the English-language level (equivalent to IELTS 6.0 overall, no band below 5.5) and any programme-specific requirements such as interviews, auditions or portfolios.

    AUT Certificate in Foundation Studies

    Auckland University of Technology (AUT)

Delivered by UP International College in Auckland. The curriculum combines English and independent-learning skills with a choice of subjects, and students can use AUT facilities while studying. Standard, Fast-Track and Accelerated durations are offered.

Progression: students who successfully complete the foundation programme and achieve the required grades are guaranteed entry into an appropriate AUT programme.

    Foundation Studies Programme

    Victoria University of Wellington

Delivered by UP Education, the University’s foundation studies partner. Students receive the foundation offer together with a conditional offer from the University, which becomes unconditional once the programme is successfully completed. Programme lengths of 6, 8–9 or 12 months with four intakes a year.

Progression: successful students receive guaranteed entry into Victoria University of Wellington undergraduate programmes.

    Why New Zealand

An education destination with quality you can verify

Four facts from official New Zealand sources — education first.

    Government-assured quality

New Zealand has strong quality-assurance systems across public and private education, and every qualification on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework carries an assurance of quality recognised worldwide.

    Globally recognised qualifications

Through the Lisbon and Tokyo Recognition Conventions, New Zealand certificates, diplomas and degrees are recognised in more than 50 participating countries.

Universities in the world’s top 2%

All eight New Zealand universities rank within the top 2% of universities worldwide, according to the QS rankings cited by Education New Zealand.

    Practical, future-focused learning

Students are supported to solve problems, think critically and creatively, and gain hands-on, employer-relevant skills — the approach that defines New Zealand education.

    Work while you study

Many international students on a Fee Paying Student Visa may be able to work part-time up to 25 hours a week while studying and full-time during scheduled holidays, depending on their visa conditions. Ask at the event how this applies to your chosen programme.
